A thought on reading books to children
One of the things that I find extraordinary about reading books to children, is that it has enabled me to better explain the world around them. Actually, they have often spared me the need to explain.
Children thrive in safe environments. Books provide safe environments. Instead of empirically discovering the world, children have first discovered a lot of the world through books. Books have predicted the unexpected and the unknown in real life: “You see, it’s like in the book with … ” And all of a sudden things make sense and everything seems easier to process.
